Create Custom IR’s and Match any Guitar Tone in Seconds

Chameleon Tone Match analyzes your guitar and a professionally recorded reference, compares their tonal fingerprints, and generates a custom Match IR that brings your tone dramatically closer to the origin

Every guitarist has experienced it—you dial in what seems like the perfect tone, yet it never quite captures the sound of your favorite recording. The differences may be subtle or dramatic, but recreating a professionally recorded guitar tone has traditionally involved hours of trial and error, countless EQ adjustments, amp changes, cabinet swaps, impulse responses, and endless tweaking.

Presets and IR’s that you purchase weren’t made with your equipment and therefore will never sound like the tone you are trying to copy.. Chameleon Tone Match helps to fix that problem.

Chameleon Tone Match complements your existing presets by generating a precision Match IR that adapts your current tone toward the reference recording.

Throughout the process, Chameleon Tone Match provides detailed engineering feedback, including waveform alignment, timing accuracy, attack matching, spectral fingerprint comparisons, correction analysis, and a comprehensive multi-page PDF engineering report documenting the entire tone matching process. Whether you’re recreating the sound of your favorite artist, matching tones between different guitars, or building consistent sounds across recording sessions, Chameleon Tone Match provides a repeatable, data-driven workflow that removes much of the guesswork from tone matching.

How Chameleon Tone Match Works

Chameleon Tone Match does not replace your preset or create a preset for you. Instead, it works alongside the preset you’ve already created by analyzing and matching the guitar tone from a professional reference recording.

For the best results, first build your preset as close as possible to the original artist’s sound, including the amp, cabinet, gain, and effects if desired. Then use Chameleon Tone Match to analyze the tonal differences and generate a precision Match IR designed to bring your guitar tone significantly closer to the tone heard in the original recording. The result is not simply another EQ preset—it is a carefully engineered impulse response designed to help your guitar adapt to the tonal fingerprint of the reference recording while preserving the character of your own performance. I prefer to set my mix at around 75%. Choose the mix, cuts and level that best suits your needs. This varies from preset to preset depending on each tones requirements.

The following audio examples were recorded in Audacity as a direct feed from Helix Native with no EQ, compression, limiting, normalization, or other post-processing. They represent the raw output exactly as it was produced with zero manipulation.

For the most accurate evaluation, we recommend listening through quality headphones or studio monitors. Due to the limited frequency response of many cell phone and laptop speakers, they may not reproduce the full tonal detail and low-frequency content heard in the original recordings.
